A unique farm-style stay in an old

Restoration Story
The School was recently restored to its new and present glory after standing vacant for some 15 years. Great care was taken to keep most of the original building and its features. Old wooden floors, rafters, sash windows and remnants of old playing fields are testament to this.
An entire schoolroom has been kept intact, with 80 year old chalkboards still on the walls. This room hosts creative workshops and retreats keeping this a place of learning, of creative endeavour, restoration and wellbeing. |
Accomodation
There are two bedrooms en-suite for guests who attend workshops or for those who simply need a little RR in a beautiful rural setting. The Cottage has been traditionally restored with polished dung floors and adobe walls. It is self catering and perfect for cyclists & nature lovers who want easy access to cycling & hiking routes nearby and a cosy self catering cottage to return to.
Rheenendal is rich with forest meanders, hiking trails and scenic drives. We are 20 minutes from Knysna and Sedgefield for restaurants, activities and stunning beaches. Community, food, art & soul

Studio & Workshop Space
Having restored the original ±90 year old building into a residence and two other en-suite units for accommodation we have kept one large schoolroom to be used as a recreational space. The physical and metaphoric foundations have thus been laid for this beautiful space to become a place of restoration, regeneration, growth and learning not only for those actively collaborating but for the surrounding environment as well. Combining artistic initiatives and providing a space to host exhibitions for local and visiting artists, with workshops across a broad spectrum of topics from foraging to cooking, floral design and wellness programmes.
